Appointed by West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust

• Newsteer is currently advising the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust in the delivery of a replacement 100,000 sqm hospital outside the settlement of Bury St Edmunds as part of the Government’s New Hospital Programme.

• A hybrid planning application was submitted in April 2022 following extensive pre- application engagement with various key stakeholders.

• In November 2022, outline plans for a new replacement West Suffolk Hospital were approved at Planning Committee. The culmination of over 2 years’ work, this is a significant milestone for the project which is part of the biggest hospital building programme in a generation – one of the 40 new hospitals pledged by the Government to be built by 2030. 

• This approval is a great step closer to being able to deliver a much needed new hospital for Bury St Edmunds and the wider West Suffolk community.
