Newsteer was instructed to provide expert advice by Thanet District Council as to the compensation payable to the former owners of the Dreamland Cinema and Amusement Park in Margate following its compulsory purchase.

• The cinema and amusement park land were acquired so to bring Dreamland back into use following its closure in 2005. A compensation settlement could not be agreed and Newsteer was appointed by the Council to provide expert evidence in two Tribunal hearings as to agree the assessment of compensation.
• The case involved complex valuation arguments including the EUV of the Amusement Park and analysing adventurous residential led development ambitions.
• The first hearing, relating to the Cinema building, was determined solely in favour of the Council. The second hearing relating to the amusement park land was settled during the hearing.
