David brings over 20 years of experience spanning both the public and private sector, advising developers, house builders, investors and institutions within a variety of sectors including residential, leisure, retail, healthcare and industrial throughout the UK.

He has a strong track record in delivering brownfield regeneration, asset optimisation strategy, portfolio growth, and rationalisation, particularly for public and private sector landlords, including NHS Trusts.

David has extensive knowledge of Permitted Development Rights and the prior approval process, frequently advising clients on residential, retail, and commercial development schemes.

Highlights

  • Secured planning permission (hybrid application) for 950 homes within a mixed use development including a convenience store, doctor’s surgery, gymnasium and a children’s nursery on behalf of Meyer Homes.
  • Secured outline planning permission for a replacement (and cost neutral) 200,000sqft community hospital, care home, extra care units and key worker units in Norfolk.
  • Secured full planning permission for a new 86,000sqft mental health inpatient unit at the Whittington Hospital on behalf of Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust
  • Secured planning permission at appeal to redevelop a golf course clubhouse in the Green Belt to provide 20no. apartments
  • Regularly advising a number of instituational and independant lenders on the planning risks asscoiated with their transactions and loan books.
  • Regularly advising receivers on distressed assets with the aim of reaslising value through the planning process. Projects include a tower project (133 units within two blocks of 12 and 21 srtoreys) in the LB Tower Hamlets. The Brief included the submission of numerous section 73 applications to discharge, vary and remove conditions to allow implementation before the expiration date. The commission concluded through the securing of a Certificate of Lawfulness to confirm lawful implication had taken place which facilitated the eventual sale of the site.
